My new blog at K.net - A Dialogue With K is now up and running after several days of maintenance. There was a problem with the WordPress.com installation as part of the import process (imagine thousand of comments, hundreds of posts, categories). I thought I had it already fixed but there were still a huge problem while importing. It has failed a lot of time half way through, you may think I didn’t sleep? It wasn’t like that.

Apparently, I tried Ate Beng, I really did, but at least you were there. Technically, I am a zero-brainer here. I should have tried this before. But what’s happening behind the scene was an ultimate challlenge for me. I don’t know what PHPAdmin,MySQL, Database are for? Forget it - it’s never easy.

On the other hand, exchanging pleasantries with you in our email-chat was absolutely FUN. A BIG Vielen Dank (Thank You) Ate Beng.

So let’s all have fun in my new HOME.

MANILA, Philippines — The explosion that ripped through the Glorietta 2 Mall in Makati City early Friday afternoon, killing eight people and wounding more than a hundred others was caused by a “hard explosive,” mostly likely TNT or the military ordnance C4, police said.

Chief Inspector Raynold Rosero of the Philippine Bomb Data Center said the explosive went off near an escalator and could have been exacerbated by liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanks in nearby restaurants.

“We’ve submitted the evidence to the crime lab for chemical analysis and we saw that near the scene of [the] explosion were establishments with LPG,” he said.

Rosero said they have yet to determine whether the explosion was set off by a timer or triggered remotely by cellular phone, the signature attack of the Al-Qaeda linked Southeast Asian terror network Jemaah Islamiyah and the local Abu Sayyaf.

He described the explosion as “most likely a deliberate attack.”

Philippine National Police Director General Avelino Razon and Alfonso Reyes, spokesman of Ayala Corp., which operates the Glorieta 2 Mall where the explosion occurred at around 1:40 p.m., said eight people had been killed.

I’ve actually fainted this afternoon trying to read, learn, delete everything on the FTP and Dashboard.

I thought it’s easy. It never was. Yet, I am nearly there. Take a look.

I want the new blog really simple. Apparently, there’s still the ‘drag-click-and-drag’ action that I like on the ‘Dashboard’ but seriously, it’s pretty confusing like, “you are now on your own, so do it right”.

Now, I feel like a NEW-BIE all over again. So what do you think? Any suggestions?

I think what I did best today was, I idled for about thirty minutes, turned off my aircon, switched off my lights, no music, no computer except for a tiny candle on the Altar. Maybe tomorrow I’ll use a staircases from 13th floor instead of lifts to help save energy. I’m very efficient innit?

I am Back To Basics - I strive for a simpler life, I do without disposable trends - I’m inspired by nature and longevity. Even if I have a healthy approach to life, I still have my little vices that keeps me going.

It is all part of the routine, I am a creature of habit.

My choice of drink reflects a real thirst for fun. I like to get together with my mates, and put the world to rights. Drinking is about the socialising not fancy bars.

As for the home, let’s face it, my style is not top of my list - because I’m too busy with other things in life.

I am a Part Time Lover - I am romantic and a bit of a dreamer.

For me, love is about devotion and tenderness. I try to show my feelings in simple ways everyday. My heart is right there on my sleeve. When I think of freedom - I think of the hard cash that can buy it for me. It’s obvious innit? I’m pretty wise to the World.

And because I love modernism and designs, I’ve searched my best friend Flickah and found Frank Gehry’s works which is full of inspiration and wonder, am I only dreaming? What I like about him is his power of imagination and his courage to concrete it to reality. Unbelievable.

The word “recycling” does not simply mean collecting garbage anymore. With the combination of new technology and innovative ideas, Hong Kong’s environmental industry has carried out successfully in recycling waste materials into high value usable materials. Like recently, the use of less plastic bag in most grocery stores have been already introduced. Fewer plastic bags means savings for the supermarket, and good news for the environment.

At work, they do encourage us to re-use every little piece of papers. Even the boss would argue about throwing a yellow-post it paper into the trashbins. And okay, I must admit that I am not always diligent about recycling. When I drain the last bit of my Coke from the can, my natural tendency is to toss the can into the trashbin.

My mother used to say, “mahilig kang magtapon, kahit yung kunting peanut butter sa garapon ay pwede pang kutsilyuhin at itapal sa pandesal” (you can still use a knife with one last scoop of the peanut butter into your bread). Ever wonder that the juice is worth all the squeeze? I remember one Sunday afternoon, a group of Pinoys were having “beer drinking” under a bridge, this local lady granny who collect empty cans would watch so close enough because she sell it somewhere just to feed her hungry mouth.

When I started going online, I did crazy stuff in the internet. I subscribes to many sites that gives me a laugh. Imagine how many of us pollutes the entire World Wide Web? Imagine how many times we post photos? Imagine how many of us blog every nanoseconds? Do you ever wonder how polluted the internet is with pornography? Imagine how many word counts your entry has so that search engines crawl into our sites? How many of us abuse the use of our sidebars with too many junks? How often do we use the “delete” button so that the rubbish goes into the right place, called “Trash”? Try deleting something unuseful in your machine, it’ll pretty much tells you, “Well, done”!

When I was younger, people were not interested about recycling their rubbish. In HK, every other night, a rubbish collector in my flat would occasionally knock on my door telling me to separate my rubbish from papers and cans. It isn’t that I’ve had a huge pile of rubbish but I was never the “wiser” kind of guy because I was not even interested into recycling. How many clothes do we have? How often do we buy shoes even if we had a dozen more in our closet? Ok, that’s another thing, I’m not giving away anything from my closet - at least for now I’m not tired with my old pair of jeans.

Maybe sooner or later, even our ’shits’ can be recycle, we never know. Ask Jack Johnson. He sings his soul right fine with “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”. It’s simple, let’s have a little fun with recycling. Kick up your heels and smile. Drum your fingers enjoy the beat and then take action.

I love mugs, funny because I have accumulated about a dozen in my tiny shelves, most of them are freebies from people who L.O.V.E.’s me because I’m nice, so they say.

The one I treasured the most was from Sha and it says “GREECE”. But I constantly buy them whenever I see something cheap that I like. The funny part is, I ocassionally drink coffee and everytime I finish one, I’d grab another mug until I got dozen of them on the sink.

So if you’re looking for a nice gift this Christmas, a cool mug isn’t a bad idea really. Cheers!

Lately, everytime I walk past the OVO Modern lifestyle and furniture shop in Wanchai near my place, I find it really quite fascinating to see such a beautiful furniture sofa from the window display. Somehow, I stood there for a minute, glance, bend and can’t help but admire the design. Even so that it makes me so curious as to who the designer of the rattan sofa could be. Today, while flipping thru my favourite local Sunday magazine on its featured houses and design sections, the exact piece of sofa was mentioned and immediately found the designer’s name.

Much of it’s asian looking without being cliche or otherwise cheesy–using materials like rattan or traditional screen patterns in totally modern looking ways.

It’s a Kenneth Cobonpue’s designs. A filipino furniture designer who was being granted the prestigious 2005 Design For Asia Award. Isn’t that something that gives the Philippines the reason to be proud?

Kenneth Cobonpue began studying Industrial Design at Pratt Institute in New York, 1987. While completing his degree, he apprenticed for a leather and wood workshop near Florence, Italy. In 1994, he studied Furniture Marketing and Production in Reutlingen, Germany.

He returned home to the Philippines in 1996, to manage Interior Craft of The Islands Inc, a company founded in 1972 by his mother, Betty Cobonpue, a designer famous for creating new techniques in rattan.

He’s such a genius. And apparently, I’m not the only one impressed. His works have appeared in Magazines like Architectural Digest, Newsweek, the International Herald Tribune, and even Vogue. NOT.AGAIN. I remember, the very first time Reign Lee personally invited me on her first gig, I didn’t make it, and this time - that’s tomorrow, I’m going to miss it again! Feeling friends kasi kami. To check on Reign Lee, purchase or listen to her upcoming CD, Broken Skylines on iTunes.

I used to worked kasi with her Mom during our short-lived business-gig with USANA - but she never forget sending email updates about her daughter’s photography and music. I can’t imagine she’s getting popular already. Plus, KJwan is doing back to back? How can I ever miss this? I have work to do tomorrow.

I’ve never been ‘inside’ The Fringe Club (pictured). It’s situated near the HK’s favourite weekend hang-out, Lan Kwai Fong and I had no idea that gigs and other shows are held there. The club provides ‘rent-free’ exhibition and performance facilities to Hong Kong and mostly international artists and performers - but takes 30% of sales income from artists and performers

On the contrary, I supposed this blog is currently in hibernating. I have tried hitting the power button off then sends this to hibernation just like it supposed to but I couldn’t. Maybe that or I was busy reading dozens upon dozens of blogs asking petition to the America’s most watched TV show Desperate Housewives about the slurry remarks against the Philippine Medical School. I’ve already read a few expressing their thoughts with this issue and others who just said, “I am not offended at all” (I think I said that).

However, it is just a TV show, and an opinion of a fictional character does not reflect the opinions of real people. But whatever that is, I am not in contest with those who expresses their views about this. Besides, the said show have already issued a statement apologizing for a remark made by actress Teri Hatcher’s character.

Since I received an invitation via email with the gig, I figured it might be better off doing this right away to be more precise in a state of hibernation.

I am going to make an experiment by painting the walls of my Apartment in green or whatever color I wish to choose. As I browse along at the Apartment Therapy site, I was inspired with this Fall Colors in blue wallpaper. “When I set up my craft room, I wanted a space that was full of energy and would inspire me to create. I love this aqua/Tiffany blue-ish color. Every time I walk in the room it makes me smile”, the owner said.

I guess my blogging habits will be at halt at this time. I need more time to really decide to start this “brushing project”. Mmmm this is gonna be fun. So with this in mind, I will have the need to focus my creative abilities and where I want to focus my life in general before I can turn this blog into black. I suppose this is the point of my blog to figure out who I am and what I want.
