A Dialogue With K

I’m Krank on Adium playing Solitaire

Sometimes ignoring this blog in a little while can be a bit liberating than being here all the time trying to figure out the next best thing to blog about, but that’s not the case if you love your computer. As we know, a computer can be used for many things, for homework, documents, photoshops and other things without even going to work. Since I don’t do office stuff, I’d still do keep other things open in my desktop and I don’t want my Mac as my enemy.

This is where a game online comes in. But you know, I am not really the person who spend so much time in using a keypad or a mouse to play a game into a computer. I think for me it’s just a total waste of time. Many times in the past, I’d been eyeing on the Xbox or a PS2 (my nephews loves to play Sims, SimCity or the Tom Raider) but I just thought maybe I’ll just borrow it from them if I need it because I want something peaceful when I’m at home, that is writing to my blog. But do you think online games is really fun?

You see, when you have a new machine, like a laptop, you treat it like your God. Other times, you either pollute more stuff into your computer by filling extra unecessary things just to make it look functional than it already was. Do you accessorize it? Fancy a nice wireless mouse? And extra cable? Anything about Mac, considered myself the new victim of the brand. So it’s like I’m used to being a vegetarian and now I’m back being a carnivore person.

I think internet game is awesome. Tell me, what’s your addictive diversions you can recommend so that when my connection got stuck somewhere in the aerie, I will have a little fun to use my Mac for something totally not related to blogging.

Here’s what I found, it’s a free game called Krank which is made for Mac. It’s like a magnetic ball that you actually connect to another anchor that linked to a chain of different colors. Once you connect the links, it will explode but not vanish. There’s a number of levels which you can solve but you can always skip the levels you don’t like and go on to the next one. The images and soothing music gives a relaxing effect to the player as the ball bounces when it touches the edge of the screen. Here are some screenshots.

During my desktop days, the one I love was to play the Solitaire game. And now that I have this beautiful 3D Solitaire Forever (US$25) game for Mac, I’m sure it will make some PC owners really get jealous. Because it’s visually striking.

On another event, a Mac geek friend Ear has been teaching me “how to chat” the Mac way. Since I have several chat program from Yahoo, MSN, AIM and the Gmail Talk, she introduced me to this free Mac OS X chat application called Adium which can connect to every messaging chit-chats account entirely remote. It has a beautiful interface which got me pretty much hooked because it managed a multiple conversations with draggable tabbed chat.

And what’s more, there are hundreds of Xtras to make your chat even more exciting, you can change theme display, emoticons & organized contacts in single listing. Imagine the surprises, an online friend of mine from way back found me in her list. How did it happen?

Whatever diversions appeals to you, having a Mac for hours is as rewarding as having a Mac for your nine to five needs.
