I really really need a comfortable shoes right now. I’m just tired using my cowboy (pointed-killer) boots and suck that converse. I can’t find one decent shoes around here that fits my small feet. I’m size 5 1/2 and the 2 relatively nice decent leather shoes I got from Ralph Lauren are over 4 years old and over now. It was on sale when I bought it, not a perfect size, half inch bigger, but very comfy.

Now I can’t find anything like that almost fits me. I want a really decent looking, not too cheap, not too expensive but a better quality leather shoes. I hope I will not end up at Zara – although I could find ones that fits me, the quality is not that nice.

Buying expensive shoes is not necessarily an expense; it’s more like an investment. Someone can have a fashionable wardrobe without paying a fortune for it, but when it’s time to buy fashionable shoes, one should expect to spend more time and money to select them. Why is it worth paying more for quality shoes? – AskMen.com

Tods LoafersThe shoes I want that I love to wear are from Rockports and I would have been happy to buy some from them but the shop lacks of small sizes and they’d pretty much switched their style. They used to carry semi-business like shoes. Now they only carry upgraded athletic shoes for lack of a better description.

I’ve been thinking of getting a nice pair of shoes from J.P.Tod’s for my birthday (pictured) but the big problem is, it’s extremely expensive. I’ve seen lots and lots for HK$2500-$3000 and even some as much as HK$4900. I mean, WHAT THE HELL! I can’t afford it. But it looks really handsome. It’s a pair of a loafer that can be wear everyday, and it’s because they are “Made in Italy”, I wouldn’t mind buying the expensive ones, quality wise they are more long lasting.

Hong Kong is going on 75% off sales this coming week so I’m stucked! Any suggestions?

  1. I bought a pair of very beautiful and elegant loafers in Armand Basi http://www.armandbasi.com/ 90€, but you wont probably find them in HK neither on his web. Aboid Zara, they sell the ugliest shoes in the world, the are what we call “hortera”, wordreference says flasy or tacky.
75%? then you can try those Tods

Hi inthesity, after checking on the site, I went out to look for the brand, can’t find one, or probably they are only available on few selected shoe shop around here. The thing is, big logo shops for shoes doesn’t really go on sales like the Hogan’s. Men’s shoes can’t be on 75% off sale I’m sure.

  3. I wear Diesel’s when I go out, but most of the time, since I am not required to wear dress shoes any more for work, I go around in Nike Air Max 360 or some higher shoes for scootering.

  4. i know how u feel, I got small feet. how I wish is a happy feet :) Tod is really expensive why don’t u try Clarks?? (http://www.clarks.co.uk/ )

I know the design is not that grate but is really comfy… u can think about it.

Range, I can’t understand why a NIKE shoes doesn’t fit me. Most of the time, I would try on the KIDS size so I avoid the sports shoe shops. Diesel’s a bit expensive for me but now I got a new choices, G-Star – raw jeans looks good.

Vince, whenever I see a Clarks brand for shoes, it gives me an impression for old pop’s. No offence but I would choose Cole-Haan or Florsheim shoes than the Clarks. Hehehe.

  6. I suggest you go on more window shopping trips. You might find a nicer shoe you know

  7. men’s shoes are relatively more expensive compared to women’s shoes. I agree with you on rockport’s quality of shoes. They seem to be upgraded versions of sports shoes.

I’m sure there are lots of options in HK although some can be very pricey. Goodluck on your shoes shopping!

Charles, I did! I did! I went ahead to look for the New Arrivals at Zara, I tried on a few and even insisted to the tender to find me the smallest size for men (smallest Euro size was 39) so no luck yet. If I got the chance to find one, I’ll buy one after my bday, with or without discounts.

Duke, uunga bakit ganun? UNFAIR! And besides, men’s shoes has limited trendy designs, lahat na lang pang business-like. Rocksports are getting expensive na rin. Cole-haan is another good quality for leather shoes, medyo mura than Tod’s. What do you think?

  9. K, the most i spent on shoes was US$35. i go to stores like marshalls and they carry good quality shoes for reasonable prices. and i prefer cute casual shoes….

good luck on your shoes hunting. hope you find what you are looking for.

Belle, that is sure a cheap shoes but I guess you are not really that materialisitic so it’s it doesn’t matter, right? The other side of me is that, I love cheap ones but good in quality. I am rather fond of spending on leather “chinelas” as I don’t feel comfortable wearing business-like types of shoes – but I know when you get older, I don’t anymore follow the trends. I went window shopping, tried on some few “expensive” ones, good grief, they feel so good in your feet, of course I left the shop empty handed (thanks God, the sales staff didn’t give me a Nike-look eyebrows) so I got a few likings already, can’t wait to swipe my card end of this month (pay day, my friend! hehehe).

  11. shoe shopping these days are hard…I agree! It’s either too expensive, not the right size or just does not look good on me ;P

I’m currently a loyal Nine West customer for now(15 pairs)…I tend to be lucky and find great bargain for the right size and design. It’s just that I don’t wear it out too often as I’m most comfortable wearing my sandals or slippas! haha :)

Happy shopping and have a great weekend, K! I wish I could be in HK to enjoy the sales ;P

  12. Funny you should be talking about shoes, because I was at a friend’s birthday party, and they were talking about cheap shoes and how they fell apart easily.

  13. 13 K

C, I went past the Nine West shop and I saw these women were all screaming upon seeing the sales went down to 50%. I can see how excited they were I mean really I hope Nine West will also cater a shop for Men’s as well.

Wengistein, Hahaha I’ve encountered a few times on the mall where this women couldn’t even walk because she tip-toed over the edge of the stairs and the heels went poof. I would be mad if I’d buy a branded shoes and later found that their leathers are not genuine, I can’t imagine myself walking in public with a hole on my sole. Of course it will never happen.

  14. 14 sha

just been to florence sweetie where the leather goods are to die for but i really behaved but i ended spending my money on fine meals and wine

    get those tods

  15. do agree with you for the design haha!! but is the comfy that make me buy it….

  16. 16 K

Sha, can I behave like you do? I never have a decent meal in weeks. I think I should be thinking of the food to put on my stomach rather on my feet. Oh fheek that, I will get the Tod’s – they have my size there minus the discount tags.

Vince, you’re funny but you know, I couldn’t find those Clarks in a shop where it used to be. I guess, I stopped going to that shop because I have been walking different routes these days.

  17. baka they figured that men are not as shoes-aholic than women that is why there are more choices for women;s footwear than men and the latter is more expensive. {unta ka na lang ng mongkok ;)

  18. 18 K

Duke, Hahaha sa Mong Kok. Do you know na hindi na popular ang Mongkok kahit sa mga tourists? They think everything there are not cheap anymore, considering all those fake bags came from China, kaya people travel not so far to ShenZhen and find their fakes there triple lower than the ones in HK. And do you know that the Men’s shop here becomes so popular nowadays? The Prada Shop has these big hangers of shirts than the womens. I must have missed to say that most of these men in suits are Metrosexuals and they do really show off their shoes than their suits. HK is too much for people who follow the trends. I hate to see myself in the fitting room without buying the clothes I want because I can’t afford it. At least for now, they are on sale I can buy one from Lane Crawford. Hehehehe, ang yabang!

  19. *gulp* go for it? the tod’s?
well, i’m not as motivated as you are, considering the price.

    good luck, hehe.

  20. 20 K

Vina, trudats! Ang mahal kaya pero sarap sa paa. I went there yesterday and looked at the tag price – walang pag babago, from the cheapest $2,400 – $4.500. I like the loafers, so I may, one day, show it off – bahala ng walang makain. Hahaha.

  21. One of the things I love is shoes! If I was rich, I’d have a closet full of shoes. :D

  22. 22 K

I’ll go for the jeans & leather sandals.

But for as long as I am still working here, I’ll buy more than 3 or 4 a month (but then again, wag na lang, remit ko na lang). Once or twice a year is not bad to buy a new expensive pair rather than having as many of them, nasisira lang agad gaya ng Spartan, hehehe.

  23. Upon reading this post, i remembered my good old W.Brown shoes way back in 1996. I was in college then, and that shoes lasted for more than 4 years. Then my Dr. Martens, which is also a very good buy. This one lasted for almost 10 years.

Hopping from Japan.. *but i’m not a Japanese :) * nice blog here.. well-stuffed and i like your mp3, DL’d many of them and they’re awesome. Tnx!
