My Crystal Clear XP Vista Desktop transformation

At last, my desktop has been transformed into an awesome Vista looking operating system. Despite the name Vista, the transformation changes most of the system icons, skins and toolbars and also adds new enhancements to my desktop with its magnificent animated Dock Bar that organize shortcuts elegantly.

If you want to transform your Windows Operating system into a crystal looking desktop, you can try downloading this free software and make it look like Crystal Clear. Here’s what my new desktop looks like.

Got a Question?

Crystal FirefoxCrystal BlackIs my PC going to suffer from a big decline of performances? NO! The modifications are included directly in system files, so basic options don’t use a lot of resources. And for the additional software, it will let you choose during the installation, so the pack will be perfectly fit to your computer.

What happens if I change my mind? Don’t panic. The Crystal Clear has a new control panel. You decide which software you activate or not, and if you want to restore your old Windows XP, uninstalling the pack will bring everything back.

If you’re not sure, check the Windows Vista Homepage to learn about this Vista Release. Thanks for the link Carol.

Addendum: On another note, here’s my other download Theme from Mac Emulation.

My Mac OS XP DesktopFlyakiteOSX is a transformation pack. It will transform the look of an ordinary Windows XP+ system to resemble the look of Mac OS X. The installer simply automates the process of replacing critical system files, setting registry tweaks, and installing extras such as cursors, sounds, visual styles, etc.

In case you are not happy with the results of FlyakiteOSX, everything is completely removable. Just run the uninstaller from the Start Menu or from Add/Remove Programs.

Sounds easy? I suggest you need to read it thoroughly before you attempt downloading the product. I honestly did it without a doubt but now it’s causing me a bit of a headache. So if you are not an IT expert this one is not a friendly choice although the outcome looks amazingly stylish, I gave it a try. My log-in option is now working as if like I’m on a MAC laptop.

Thanks for the link, greenlightsaber.

    Glad you installed it K.
    It looks really nice.
Not really Vista look but better than the original Xp.

It’s alright with me really. I’ve seen some real Vista Desktop and I felt jealous. I might try downloading the one from Microsoft once I get to learn how it works. And sorry for the flickr links I gave you. I made another shots, I’m not that techie so my pictures kinda look lame. Thanks anyway.

There’s this pack here that is more Vista : http://www.crystalxp.net/galerie/en.id.130.htm
If you decide to install Vista though, backup your system first. You might go back to using XP again.
Once the final version is out,you will have to pay to upgrade it so you can continue using it.
Then, your laptop must be having at least 1 gb ram and lots of hard drive space,a good vga card,in order to support Vista.
It is a heavy OS and you need a pc ready to handle it.

Looks lovely. But how’d you get it with that Firefox logo? I knew that site, but I didn’t know you could alter it’s appearence with the theme! :? If you like the Mac look, check out this. (It doesn’t open in a new window.)

“… but I didn’t know you could alter it’s appearence with the theme!”

By that I meant download the theme and get that FF logo.

Carol - yes I did try a few downloads. Believe me, it looks perfect but at the same, I was so disoriented with the whole set-up. I felt unattached to my laptop for a couple of days but I’ve somehow managed. And NO for the second link. I think I will not be uploading software that would ask me to upgrade with extra charges so I’ll stick to the simple and free downloads. Thanks, again Carol.

Bardic - I picked that too, looks cool. The whole pack includes few themes so if you want to change your “Image Display” it creates different styles. I like black but the text isn’t very visible.

Asha - you are welcome. Free is good in a way that it simplifies the entire look of your desktop. However if we want more widgetized look, there’s always a hidden charge to upgrade. And you know I don’t need that.

Azphire - Hi. In wordpress, you don’t really need HTML’s. If you look at your Dashboard - Presentation - choose a Theme and find the ones that has 2 columns. Click on the Side Widgets and select a “TEXT” Widget and create a small HTML or whatever things you want to put there. Drag the text widget you have created and put it on the enabled sidebar. Save & voila, you will now have the ETCETERAS in your sidebar. I’ve seen your blog and the theme you have selected doesn’t allow side widgets, it’s a clean theme but this won’t work on that theme. Just keep playing with it and you’ll see. Thanks for the visit btw.

Charles - Thanks. I think I’ve downloaded the Bicropack. The file is not so big but I think it’s safe for an XP since they designed the dock style that works smoothly perfect for XP and you can play with it, either you put it on the left, top or bottom of your desktop.

Green - the FF logo is included in the pack, check on your Display in Control panel option and you’ll see it’s added there. Play with it but don’t screw up with it because it happened to me twice in a whole day. But guess what, I uninstall the previous download (Bicropack) to the link you shared. I tell you what, after installing it, I have somewhat screwed up the process. There’s a need for a little tweaking but I found out that the MAC pack has problems, my iTunes isn’t loading, I couldn’t even put it to work. The enrite system has changed, so it won’t read any of my files/programs. In short, I screwed it up and tried uninstalling it many many times. Just yeterday, I found some annoying program popping out in my screen called “Display Traces” and I don’t know how to get rid of that. Another one, was the Folder Task option kept appearing on the right side of the desktop, it looks like a spyware or something. I gave up for a day before I could even convince myself re-installing the whole Win XP OS.

Somehow, today I found that I finally got it correctly, trying to figure out where to locate my files because everytime I click on my FF browser/Windows Player and iTunes, it has error message that says “you are running in a Window Safe Mode. The files you are installing won’t work”. It sucks but I’m sure I can fix it, well it almost look perfect. I’m playing and enjoying my MAC-looking desktop. I also downloaded the yahoo widgets that floats around the desktop. Neato.

Dez - I know the typhoon was BIG that the entire country esp Manila was badly damaged. A few days earlier, I had a hard time calling my family but glad they are now OK. Yeah, try downloading it but make sure you virus-scan them as I suspect it includes spywares - not that I’m serious, it’s just that it looks cool but somewhere along the way, it could also harm your machine. Not with your new laptop tho right?

Duke - WELCOME BACK! Good to see you my sweety. I’ve read your earlier post about your trip. Sounded like you had a great time. I thought you were so disappointed about the devastating typhoon so you feel like wanting to go back to Istanbul, right? I have, in my few recent trips back in Pinas before, I hate to say these but it was more relaxing and safe going back to HK and say “ahhh, finally the holiday is over”. I heard there was a plane being hi-jack at the Istanbul yesterday. Are you aware of this? Anyways, good to see you again.

Dan - Hi, yes it looks adorable huh? I hope you’re not a spam-bot as your comment sounded as if like “Henry”, my recent spammer these days. Thanks for visiting.

Bardic - Thanks for the link. I need to read more about it since it’s giving me a bit of a headache. I can’t seem to choose which one is worth to try on.

Hi, K! Nee hao mah? Tama ba? ha haaa

This is my first time to hear about Vista. Your desktop’s cool, looks like a NASA control screen. :-)) My computer prowess is so so miniscule, so I wont dare to change mine. Thanks for this tip, another word added into my wordbank.

And hey, dear me, dear me, I just noticed that your blog is loaded with mp3s! Istambay kaya ako dito once in a while, oks lang sa iyo? Hope you don’t mind. Thanks sooo much! :-)

Have a nice day and you take care!

    how are you?
I’ve heard some good stuff abt XP Vista however I’m not sure if I’m ready yet for the switchover.
    soon…but not yet :)
    hehe *hugs*

Joy - take your time and ENJOY the music. I will be downloading more songs, so in case you have any particular music that you like, let me know, ok? It would take time but patience is always a virtue, right? Thanks for the friendly visit and keep coming back.

EAR - wassssssupp? I have no idea with the BE is going down to the loo. I have never visited the site for quite a long time. I think I lost interest in “showing-off” my site to that service. I enjoyed it a few times but because of the complicated service and some “unfriendly” beta-chatters there, I declined coming back.

    Duke, HAHAHAHA - enjoy!

Dez - yung FF image kasama sa download, choose the XP-VISTA Inspirat BICROPACK, it includes some of the nice ones. After that, go to Control Panel, Display and see the choices in the dropdown and choose Firefox.

Consuela - Hello there. Yep the Windows Vista is now on the GO. But no I am not purchasing it yet for upgrade. The one that I downloaded was only a SKIN, it doesn’t entirely change the whole of your PC format, it only replaced the icons, images and outer skin look of your desktop.

  25. carol said, on October 5th, 2006 at 6:34 pm

    What are you talking about?
The second link (if i get it good) is also to Crystal Xp and all downloads in there are Freeware and there are no paid upgrades.

So far i have tested all of the popular Crystal packs from there and most of the software for icons and folders and there’s nothing to pay.

Trust me,i wouldn’t spread the word for a paid software unless there’s absolutely no free alternative for it….and here it isn’t the case.

  26. K said, on October 6th, 2006 at 7:58 am

Nevermind, I have already screwed up my first few installation. It wasn’t very clear to me why everytime I reinstall/uninstall the application it goes poop on me. Now my iTunes7+Quicktime, Flash Macromedia & Win-Player are all screwed up. I reinstalled everything and it still got errors, maybe it’s bugs or something?

And how do I reinstall the whole Windows XP? I want to have a clean files. Time for me to have some IBM visit these days, I think.

  27. carol said, on October 6th, 2006 at 4:31 pm

Man,what the heck did you do there?
The installation isn’t suppose to ruin anything. You just choose the option, hit the button and let it run. When is done, you just start up and is all fine.

In what way are they screwed up?Not working or looking weird?

If you want to reinstall Windows,i can help you with that.Is very simple. You can do it yourself.
But you have to reinstall all your applications too if you want everything fresh.

    Let me know.

  28. K said, on October 6th, 2006 at 4:51 pm

Exactly. But since a regular commenter named “greenligthsaber” shared another link for a MAC Look XP I tried that too. I followed the installation very seriously/carefully. It all went well, except that after the download, the media player, iTunes, flash/macromedia flas/quicktime/ (are these all the same, btw?) doesn’t seem to work. Is there something wrong with my Drivers? Does the files saved to work at my C directory or my Log-in User account? How do I move the files from an Administrator Log-in to my own user log-in?

And HOW do I get rid of these pop-ups:
    1. Display traces
    2. ssdiag (application, an exe file)

    H-E-L-P!

  29. charles said, on October 6th, 2006 at 5:37 pm

Hello K. I guess you need to download again your medial players one by one. iTunes and Quicktime they go together while Flash you can find the player at http://www.adobe.com

  30. K said, on October 6th, 2006 at 5:44 pm

Thanks, Charles, prior to that I have attempted to download all the flash versions but it would worth a try. I know these stuff won’t harm my laptop but the good news is that, my WIN-PLAYER is finally working. I have yet to check on the iTunes and iPod upgrades. It says, that the new Itunes+Quicktime Beta 2 has a bug, so it’s probably why it isn’t working.

  31. carol said, on October 6th, 2006 at 5:45 pm

K,unless i give you something to install, please do not accept another from other.
    LMAO!Just joking.
There’s nothing wrong with your drivers K.

Ok,what you can do is revert your windows to another date with Restore point.Do you know how to do that?

But first,go to your antivirus, update it and start a scan.Update your anti-spyware too and do a scan.
And please get rid of that software Mac Look Xp for now.

I did a search on that exe file and it came back with few answers. Some say that is a keylogger, some spyware, some found nothing on it.

What you have right now in your computer is this:

The files are saved into the account that you log in into.

  32. K said, on October 6th, 2006 at 6:07 pm

Wow you’re seriously a charm - what a prompt reply. I am using NOD32 anti-virus system and it didn’t detect the bug. That’s exactly the file that annoys me. I see it like a glitch when I re-password my Admin account to my Log-in. So now that the site has the solution (finger-crossed), I downloaded the True Sword (such a sharp name for a Virus Killer) however, the file has error setup. NOTTTTTTTTT AGAIN! But I’ll see if it has already disappeared. I need to have a BIG Rebooting and will let you know. BTW, WINDOWS MEDIA player is now candidly working. I think the latest BETA is full of shit it crashes the entire program.

And according to my java console, this THEME is fucked up. The error message is this:

Error: Error in parsing value for property ‘display’. Declaration dropped. Source File: http://matt.wordpress.com/wp-content/themes/blix/layout.css Line: 532

I guess that’s the reason why the shitty flash don’t work. Or do you think it’s the FF browser? Gahh.

  33. carol said, on October 6th, 2006 at 7:41 pm

What in the WWW’s name are you using there?Lmao!
    FF Browser?Never heard of it.
Why won’t you just stick with the populars and really good reviewed ones?
Just remove the themes you’ve installed lately.Do another scan if possible.
Do a registry cleaning as well and let me know how it goes.
You can also do an online scan if your antivirus ins’t good enough.

And you meant the logon to your WP or into your computer?
You so lost me this time.I am confused now.

  35. Qwerty Maniac said, on October 7th, 2006 at 8:03 pm

Well, this is regarding the Flyakite fkup, packs even when uninstalled leave a LARGE amount of traces behind. Specially Brico/CrystalXP ones. So it is always recommended to install a pack on a cleeen installation and for a new pack, reformat :P

Ah the troubles I have had with the Vista Transformation Packs :P

  37. range said, on December 14th, 2006 at 8:09 am

I’ve run into problems with skin for Win Xp a few years back, it was a program called Window blinds. At the end, I couldn’t revert to the win xp theme anymore. I think I had to reinstall windows again. Also, since I had run into HD problems a few years ago, I always put my System Restore settings on making restore points every day and give it the maximum allotted space on the HD.

IMHO, these software are interesting but they can mess up your system. I just use plain Win XP Pro for the moment and I am waiting for Win Vista to be released.
