Fools Like Me

With 25 million viewers in the coveted 18-to-49 age bracket, Grey’s Anatomy ended last season as one of TV’s healthiest shows. Now ABC is moving the medical drama from Sunday night to Thursday, where it will face the CBS giant CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

Ok I admit, I like this series! It reminds me of my internship in a hospital ward on a graveyard hours, where we, after the doctor’s rounds, would find an empty room to sleep. We would usually squeezed like a can of sardines in a very dark dull-like empty room sharing one of those patient’s white linen sheets — but even as we tried, there was really not much time to sleep. Often, we usually asked ourselves like.

“There’s a funny smell in here”.
“Because this is a ward”
“Why are we doing all this work?”
“Because we want to be a Nurse.”

On another incident, I was called to pick up a patient from a room. The patient was to be discharged in that day. I found him already in a stretcher, seemed as though he was immaculately sleeping and not even moving, so I didn’t try to wake him up. Knowing that a patient was about to discharged, I asked why would someone be in a stretcher? My heart beats so much faster.

Little did I know that the person was already dead. I’ve checked on his chart and I was instructed to send him to the morgue. I caught myself standing infront of him, totally chicken out and couldn’t figured out what I was going to do next. I got all confused that I had to push the stretcher infront of the information desk. I was completely embarrassed. Everybody was laughing. From that moment on, it made me popular in my College.

It may sound corny, but it was much more than just a job — dealing with peoples lives “up front and personal” was a hard thing to do. I feel I couldn’t live with it every day so when I finished college, I realized that I’d rather not work in a Hospital.

  1. Houston we have a problem.

If you’re seeing an awful, broken and messed-up looking theme, this would mean that wordpress.com is having a system upgrade.

    Stand-by and be patient.

  7. I’ve somehow neglected watching TV series for such a long time, but now that I’ve given “some time” to watch all these new seasons, I’m desperately tuning in to a few ‘Hospital Dramas’. And of course, Prison Break.

  8. are you watching the new season? I love the show…Dr McDreamy :P

Season 3 just started last Thursday for us…and am hoping this will be a good season! cheers…

  9. I think we are a week behind as scheduled. The ER new season is alright, just tired watching theme walking, running around, elevator closes, all those seizures & esp the annoying Head of ER but I still like it because it’s the “Emergency Room” Drama.

So pass me the bedpad please.

  10. Grey’s Anatomy is a good drama… it’s getting weak now, though. I heard it’s really like interns and all things hospital.

  11. So I guess I was late at the party? It was the same thing happened to Chicago Hope, it tends to get weaker after a few series or another. I want it back.
