Hong Kong is being attacked by Crocodiles

They are not quite a flip-flop. Not quite a Birkenstock. Not quite a clog. But what are these?
The other day, I got caught dead spotting few people wearing these Crocodile looking footwear in different colors and despite the fact that they are really ugly, they considerably look fashionable. And it’s good to wear them all summer, no matter how hot and sticky it gets. Others wear them traditionally, with the strap pulled around the back of the ankle or by pushing the strap up on the shoe to get a clog look, makes the shoes look more trendy. I’ve seen few adults wearing them and I gotta say, it’s like they are walking on a floating object. It’s very lightweight, maybe just 6 ounces and comfortable, especially if you’re on your feet all day, this thing could be fun to wear.
This Croc trend was probably caused by the recent weather, it becomes the hottest footwear of the rainy-summer. Well summer ends in a few more weeks but even so, these crocs are simply making it one of this summer’s must-have shoes, you know Hong Kong people doesn’t care less on what clothes or shoes they’re wearing, rain or shine, if it’s the trend, one must dress something just to be seen.
Would you like to wear one of these? A Chocolate Cayman Crocs: The Metro model is a hybrid between the improvements of the Cayman and the functionality of the Highland. The shoe was designed to prevent spillage from getting the top of the foot wet by eliminating the holes on top of the shoe. However, we kept the ventilation ports around the sides and put a rib around those ports to wick fluids away from the foot.
The result is a great looking shoe that can be worn stylishly with slacks in the office, on a boat with shorts, or on the operating room floor with scrubs! Our most versatile shoe has the same form fitting foot bed as the Cayman and comes in men’s sizes three through thirteen and is available in seven colors. For all our customers who have been asking for a more formal looking shoe, the Metro is the answer!
And it sells. The Croc is simply a beast all its own.
It’s probably not the type of shoe you would spend all day in or go on long walks with or go shopping in the mall but it sure does look comfortable to wear whether it’s ugly or not, as long as it is a sandal, I must have it.
Fook! What am I saying? Alright, I might be doing some CROC’s hunting this weekend. Or maybe not, depends on the weather.

It looks cute but certainly not a sexy footwear
Cheh, convince me, convince me. I can’t remember how many chinelas I owned. I love “Our Tribe” leather chinelas and some havainas. I recalled I had this Prada men leather sandals on sale at hindi ko pa rin magamit gamit dahil nanghinayang baka masira lang, hehehehe. So maybe, this Croc is more easier to ‘rub’ on the streets all day. We’ll see.
hah! it’s been quite the fad over here too in the US…I see plenty people wearing them. Are they even comfortable? I guess I’ll have to try one to find out ehh?
You think? I can only tell you until I try it myself. I would say they really are fashionable, but looks as tho’ too “bulky” for my small feet. But I’m sure they are fun to wear esp on pouring rain. It’s a rubber version of the Boston style of Birks.
The Queer Chef pimped me here - you know, but I would have gone her anyway you know!
It’s a strange world. Acording to my time in Norway, you’ve posted this tomorrow. Good to know tomorrow will be there when I wake up
Have a lovely day tomorrow as well!
We are located in separate parts of the Continents, how amazing is that? I blog late obviously so you pretty much see me around at this hours. I’m mostly awake at this hour, my mornings is my evening. I’m a night hawk or is it too early to be awake? Thanks Renny.
hahaha… sorry to dissapoint you but this crocs are so comfy! but not in this style, the thong ones. I’m raving witht he comfort level, quality and easy to clean. Can wear it hiking, walking… I love it.
but I do agree on the CLOGS. I dont understannd it too… but on qulaity and comfort level its a ten!
Hahaha SS, I believed you. I’m going out to look and maybe try it on (or buy if I like it).
Hi there!
Can you help me to promote this challenge?
I’m trying to post 1 Million Love Messages from All around The World in my Blog.
Readers write and dedicate the message to someone special, send it by e-mail, and I post it in 1 Million Love Messages
It’s a big challenge, I know.
But I believe that everybody has something to say to someone special.
I’ll wait for your visit and for your messages.
Thanks for your attention and compliments from Portugal.
I don’t know if this is SPAM message but I like the idea of spreading the Love.
Hey, it’s a trend here as well… I’m thinking of getting a bright yellow for my kid… my sis has one in orange.. talk about colors.. they are pretty bright.
I’m thinking of getting the chocolate, or the blue, the yellow and maybe GREEN, must be cool to wear when everyone’s staring at you with the ‘what-the-fook’ face. hahaha.
I think they look pretty cool, but I am the one person left in this world that wears socks with sandals.. Well, when my girlfriend is away at least! If she sees the socks she throws things :0)
I’m comfortable with sandals or slippers and I don’t understand why they aren’t socially acceptable public footwear. Besides your feet are open to the sun and breeze which just makes you feel that much better.
I’m a fan.
I’ll pass on it. But it does look okay to me.
I’ll show you my croc soon, Charles.
Honestly, I don’t like crocs. I like shoes. Most of the time, I wear black Airwalks or Diesel shoes when I go out. They are both a few years old and I’m not planning to get new ones. I do believe that there is a croc craze sweaping the planet.
I might change my mind anytime, but just for the heck of collecting “weird” shoes, I’d still consider buying one, hehehe.
Honestly range, during the winter months here (well not really very cold but I have a cold phobia), I’d wear slippers.
Birkentstocks were never my thing, that’s why I didn’t think I’d like Crocs. But after buying and trying one (Incidentally, the Chocolate Cayman ones that you pictured), the comfort factor was simply amazing. It really feels like wearing nothing. I guess that’s why a more and more people in HK are starting to wear Crocs - because everyone just walks around, so it’s better to walk around wearing something that feels like nothing.
True. I hope it’s a sweat-proof too. Since you said there’s a real comfort in that, I better look and try one myself this weekend. Thanks dazed.
hehehe i saw them earlier this year at a shopping center reknowned for computer-related stuff (of all places!) in singapore. like you, my first reaction was along the lines of “what the hell….” followed by “i wouldn’t be caught dead wearing it” when my mom horrified me by saying they were cute and we should both get a pair. guess my mom’s trendier than me =(
So which means the crocs are everywhere? I can’t wait to it try for myself. I would hope that it won’t make me look like Donald Duck in yellow. hahaha.
I think they look cute (like a smiling croc and something that you can wiggle-wiggle) and very comfy, because of the airholes in it. Sadly, we don’t have it here yet or maybe I just overlook while passing by a store.
My crappy sandals today is broken while I was walking towards home. Aaarrgghh.
Methinks: I need a new pair of sandals; and I’m going to hunt down those comfy crocs if I ever see it in malls.
I think you should try the one from the “Our Tribe”. I got a couple of those sandals, pero na “arbor” na ng kapatid ko, hehehe. I know it’s not popular, but leather slippers here is quite expensive.
K, thanks for the postcard.. these “clogs” are pretty popular here in New York, too, more so because we’re getting rain these days, and they are good for the gardeners out there.
I, personally, have resisted the urge to buy a pair. You didn’t include your return address.. !
Heyyy Dinna you got the postcards, WOW! You are welcome, glad that you liked it. I will be emailing you my address (and also to JV) soon. Salamat.
I had the Birks (clogs) already and I think I have only used for a while, medyo matigas at mainit so I think this crocs is more stylish and comfortable.
it’s actually also making its way into stores here. i can’t fathom wearing one. i don’t know. not very flattering for the feets. i’ll stick to slim pointy shoes.
suggested reading material on the horror of the crocs: http://shoeblogs.com/horrors.html
Steve Madden? WTF is that?
Incidentally, I was in Causeway Bay the other day and I just can’t find them. The ones that people keeps pointing me is to check the wet market, they thought I was looking for a lobster. Seriously.
Crocs have been popular for several months now. I think they’re cute on little kids. I’ve actually tried a pair, and they’re quite soft and comfortable. Cute with jeans… I’m considering buying a pair
At the moment, I can’t find the crocs shop. Maybe sooner or later, if the weather gets bad, I’ll just wait for them to “come out from swamp”.
those shoes are my friend’s official footwear over here!
So pati na rin sa Istanbul? No way!
i’m still sticking with my trusty old tribus
hey G! I guess I’ll just stick to my havaianas. $40 bucks.
Re the crocs… I want to give them away for Christmasl… where can i get them… they have them in DB but quite pricey… someone mentioned going out to Central where it’s cheaper… but where? Would you know? Thanks.
