A Dialogue With K

The Mirror Project: IKEA Snaps

It’s always fun to hang around at IKEA store. Let’s get this straight, I love everything in IKEA unless of course, if your lamp fused out in few days, you have no choice but to come back in the store to buy that special bulb.

But then, I’m beginning to hate IKEA since the service is quite slow, you can’t even find an extra help from staff if you want to look for a simple corkboard, so you have to patiently find it yourself. Then if you want to buy a bed, it’s another story since there are hidden charges for delivery and for the entire assembly service.

When I moved to a smaller apartment, I thought I had to downsize my stuff, bed is always the first thing in mind. Since I don’t have enough space for bed, I started to read on the catalogue and straightly purchased a loft. Apparently, it took them few thousand times to check on the availability of the product. Again. I had to wait for weeks to get the bed. Somehow, I survived sleeping in a floor with my old folded matress before it was finally delivered. Imagine the pain in the back.

I also bought few other furnitures and it made me completely clueless when you came home and started assembling the simple wooden table and had down to quite a science by the time I got the last leg only to find a missing screw. And all that pre-drilled hole didn’t line up right or something. Like huh, I need to bring it back again to have a replacement. Although I’m satisfied with their return policy, however you have to start looking for the catalogue and the item codes from all the way back to the entrance.

One that annoys me is that, a bed section is where you actually see the exact look for your bedroom and as you start measuring the right size of the bed, you can find kids in uniform flirting at each other over a bunch of pillows as if they behave exactly in a school playground. Again, another couple who left their child in that bunk bed and started to jump from the top who then crashes into another bed screaming out loud for his father only to get a big spanking in the ass because he was left unattended.

If you want to go this shop, refrain from bringing extra luggage (children). I know we’re just being hypocrite so we did the same, of course. We fancied at these beautiful bedroom complete with big mirrors on the wall as we snaps our camera phone so fast before the staff could caught us. It always makes me kinda dream that one day, have my own house with a bed that would look exactly like that. And although I don’t buy any furnitures anymore, still, I’d go back and enjoy a nice and cheap IKEA hotdog.

Afterall, you can just walk around IKEA Bed Avenue before the furniture dies on you.
